This area, dedicated to surgeries is a quiet backwater, away from the main stream of hospital traffic that is designed to provide a sterile room with positive pressure airflow to minimise contamination. This is where desexing and other soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures are performed.
The equipment in this room is just as you would expect find in a human operating theatre including a hydraulic operating table, operating light, anaesthetic machine and sterile instrument packs. Monitors to measure the pet’s respiration, heart rate, oxygenation and blood pressure allow the trained nurses dedicated to that patient to accurately assess, manage and record the pets anaesthetic depth so that the vets can focus on their surgery.
